Considering the contradiction of early Christian authors' approval of seemingly magical practices, such as exorcisms, Shaily Shashikant Patel examines the impact this treatment of magic had in forging key facets of Christianity like Jesus' identity, apostolic authority, community norms, Christian orthodoxy.
