"Shibpur-aan is a portal to B.E. College, revisited in fourteen works of fiction. The authors graduated from the heritage institution over the last two decades of the last millennium. They are now scattered all over the world plying their trades but their pens haven't lost their edge. This book is a celebration of their yearnings, a quest to find lost love, the fire of youth and forgotten laughs as they regale the readers with their brilliantly creative stories in Bengali and in English.



আশি, নব্বই দশকের সাদাকালো দিনগুলোতে তখনও মুঠোফোন বা সোশ্যাল মিডিয়ার রং লাগেনি। গঙ্গার পাড়ে বি গার্ডেন ঘেঁষা ঐতিহ্য প্রাচীন বি ই কলেজের চৌদ্দজন ছেলেমেয়ে সেই সময় পাশ করে জীবিকার সন্ধানে দেশে বিদেশে ছড়িয়ে পড়লেও জীবনের তাগিদে কলমের সাথে তাঁদের সম্পর্ক সুনিবিড় আলোর সাথে ছায়ার মতো। এই বইয়ে তাঁদের কলমের ছোঁয়ায় প্রাণ পেয়েছে নটি বাংলা আর পাঁচটি ইংরেজি গল্প। যেখানে জীবনের সঙ্গে মিশে যায় ফুটবল-ক্রিকেট, দৌড়ে পেরিয়ে যায় হাওড়া ব্রীজ, বোহেমিয়ান পর্বতারোহণ সৃষ্টি করে জীবনের আলেখ্য, বৃষ্টিভেজা প্রেমে সিক্ত হয় কৈশোর। আছে এক ঝলক বিশুদ্ধ হাওয়ার মতো অফুরান হাসির খোরাক, আছে প্রেম-বিরহের উপচে পড়া কান্না। জীবন থেকে নেওয়া এসব গল্প জীবন-মৃত্যুকে ছুঁয়ে বাঁচার কথা বলে।"
