Beskrivelse

Wang Wei, who is also referred to as 'Wang Meng' with Meng Haoran, is a representative of the pastoral poetry of the thriving Tang Dynasty. Wang Wei was born in the first year of Chang'an (701) following the reign of Empress Wu, in Taiyuan (Qixian, Shanxi). He also had early aspirations of success and reputation, which led to the creation of numerous works with themes of frontier forts. The poetry of Wang Wei mixes many genres and excels in the five rhythms. Wang Wei, who is skilled in both music and painting, creates a poetic mood that is 'painting in poetry, poetry in painting' that is tranquil and lovely. The defining characteristic of Wang Wei's poetry is the beauty of solitude and peace. With a focus on Wang Wei's pastoral and landscape poems, the poems chosen for this book comprehensively display all of Wang Wei's artistic elements and are accompanied by clear annotations and analyses that help readers understand the distinctive artistic conception in his poetry.
