Inspired by Stephen Crane and Carl Sandburg, author Ben Schulz observes the giant, clumsy forest and ponders what makes it tick. He usually passes by the perfectly pruned rose. The variety of his subjects is broad, held together by his love of color, imagery, and, at times, humor.
