Beskrivelse

This book is an astronomical work written in verse, completed between 2 and 14 AD. It is the first systematic exposition of astronomical theory in the West, predating Ptolemy by nearly a century. The manuscript consists of five volumes, with systematic and rich content. The first volume introduces the origin and structure of the universe, lists various constellations, and explains concepts such as the Earth's polar circles and the equator. The second volume systematically introduces the astronomical theory of ancient Rome, namely the classification of the twelve zodiac signs and the house system. Volumes three and four mainly discuss the mutual influence of constellations and their impact on Earth. The fifth volume is primarily about the theory of planets. This book is an important document for us to understand the ancient Romans' understanding of the universe and to study the history of the development of astronomy. At the same time, the book is written in verse, which also has a certain literary value.
