This rare and fascinating vast official volume contains the detailed minutes of evidence in which various senior officers, regimental officers, NCOs and men, record their experiences and views on punishments, with examples of various cases (including some quite barbaric punishments: excessive flogging, branding for desertion etc.) There is much interesting detail on the nature of punishments in the Army during and after the Napoleonic Wars as well as the opinions of various figures on the efficacy and improvements to military penalties.
