Hotaru's world is one without magic or adventure. That all changes one fateful night when her brother is stalked by an enormous black wolf. Her intervention causes him to be spirited away, and now, she will do anything to get him back. Even if it means teaming up with the temperamental old wolf.

She is told that her brother is the reincarnation of the legendary Chosen, said to have once saved Shukumei from terrible destruction. Those same nefarious forces now intend to manipulate him into doing their own bidding, possibly endangering the Guardians and even magic itself.
