Reinterpreting the New Testament

In one sense the Bible is “the same yesterday, today, and forever” (Hebrews 13:8); the written text does not change. But in another sense, it does. Jewish mystics teach that, once the Messianic Era arrives, a hitherto-invisible letter will appear in the text. Scripture will then be seen to have a whole new meaning appropriate to the new age. But isn’t this always true? New generations read the holy text through different lenses, apply it to unforeseen questions, and the old Book becomes a new Book.

In this collection of essays, Robert M. Price takes several new looks at various New Testament passages and issues. With great humor and learning he shows how to build new interpretations upon the works of previous scholars; at the same time he corrects their errors.

Price holds earned Ph.D. degrees in both Systematic Theology and New Testament. He is the founder and editor of the Journal of Higher Criticism.
