The dissemination of Songs of Chu to the Western world has important cultural exchange significance, but due to language and geographical barriers, Chinese academic circles have quite limited grasp of this aspect. Through the comprehensive use of a variety of literature retrieval methods, this book has investigated and read more than 300 kinds of literature materials translated and introduced by European and American scholars, and carried out research on this basis. The book first divides the history of Chuci studies in Europe and the United States into three stages of development, traces the history of the western translation of Songs of Chu, and examines the development characteristics of Chuci studies in different countries in different periods. After that, we selected 6 representative scholars for case analysis, compared their academic research horizontally with Chinese and Japanese scholars, and examined it vertically in the research history of Songs of Chu, trying to show the unique insights and methods of Western scholars in the interpretation of Songs of Chu, and judge its gains and losses.
