When redheaded computer whiz, Emma Vernon, arrives at The Workflow Editorial Initiative to be their coding troubleshooter, she has to temporarily share an office with quiet, serious senior editor, Barbara Simmons. Scholarly Barbara, nicknamed Bebe, fascinates Emma and they soon find common ground in long lunch discussions and their mutual dislike of predatory floor manager, Ralph Browning. When threats from an abusive ex force Bebe to rescue Emma, they flee Albuquerque and escape to Emma's family home in rural Virginia. Bebe finds herself suddenly surrounded by dogs, children, comical adults and Emma. Especially Emma. Will Bebe be able to endure Emma's rowdy, fun-filled but chaotic life as the powerful attraction grows between them? Or will she ignore the chance at love and turn away, retreating back into the safety of her bookish, antisocial life.
