Passing Clouds

After a turbulent few years, aspiring travel writer Rafe Christian finds peace and healing through studying the ancient practices of yoga and meditation in India. Filled with optimism and positivity following an ayurvedic retreat in Kerala-and reluctant to return to his native England, where old ghosts and an uncertain future await him-Rafe books a flight to Pakistan, where he is instantly abducted.

In captivity, Rafe must come to terms with the choices he has made throughout his life, and he must learn to accept his present situation. Throughout, he develops a close friendship with his fellow captive, Gregory Whitman, a middle-aged American attorney-turned-professor whose practical, cynical worldview often clashes with Rafe's idealistic, innocent viewpoint. Together, Rafe and Gregory must learn to survive moment by moment, passing time with conversations light and humorous, deep and meaningful, trying not to pay much mind to the reality of their situation. Constantly lurking in the back of their minds is the question of who has kidnapped them and when, if ever, they will be free.

Full of heart and surprising humor, Passing Clouds explores the endurance of the human spirit in the face of seemingly unbearable circumstances. Lightness and darkness must coexist, and the transience of the present moment must be embraced and celebrated.
