Old Friends and New Fancies: An Imaginary Sequel to the Novels of Jane Austen published in 1913 is the first sequel to Jane Austen's work not authored by Jane Austen and is widely considered the first piece of fan fiction. The plot incorporates characters from Austen's six stand alone novels into one overarching story.
