Born in Woodstock, VT in 1840, Louisa lived a conventional life as an old maid Boston school teacher until the age of 40. Then the West fired her imagination. She overcame family objections and moved to Denver to live life by her own rules.

Astute land purchases in the up-and-coming city enriched her and enabled her to travel the world and marry a most unexpected man. Through love and adventures, heartache and scandal, she maintained the core principles of her life: be true to yourself and live generously.

Her history was just a funny family legend until meticulous research into the historical documents left behind by her passage through time proved it be even more interesting.
