Angry at the injustice of life and grieving his loss, Joran finds himself on a path of self-destruction. That's before his father, King Henry, sentences him to a year at sea under the watchful eye of Captain Markus, with hopes that the rigorous lifestyle will help him move forward. His guard, Peter, and Captain Markus, seem intent on teaching him what they know about love and loss, but Joran hurts too much to welcome their friendship. 



When he hears about an assassin who severs the left hand of his victims, he knows he's discovered the man who murdered the girl he loved. Determined to make the man pay, Prince Joran believes he has found a new purpose for his life. 



When Joran is met with an unexpected revelation involving a young woman during his travels, he finds himself full of questions and speculation. Joran must now decide if loving again is worth letting go of the past.
