Not How it Ends

In the country of Veanokha, there are two accepted truths; first, that half-human, half-nonhumans, called "half-bloods" go crazy after their 17th birthday, and second, that the government-funded Anti Half-Blood Association keeps the country safe by eliminating these half-bloods as soon as they show symptoms of going "crazy." Lexy Hext is one of these half-bloods, who has recently turned 17. An outcast from the rest of her peers due to her species, Lexy has accepted her fate and her future (or lack thereof). As she awaits the inevitable, though, she begins uncovering truths and secrets about those around her, including herself. How much of that really matters, though, when she'll be dead soon?
