The treatment that she experienced there was to influence her entire life. A reconciliation with her family a few years later only added fuel to the fire and was a continuation of mental abuse. Surrounded by drugs and alcohol and bad parenting she learned to circumvent her circumstances and create a life for herself outside of the family, only to discover, in later years that decisions that she made only served to contribute to more oppression.
