Seattle Detective Darvesh Jack Doyle returns in Nagual, a paranormal tale that stretches the Seattle detective's credulity to the breaking point. In Cincinnati, Ohio to visit Aunt Meg, Doyle is asked to help on a case that has shape shifter written all over it. He declines but his boss, Seattle police captain Wes Malvern, insists the ghost hunting paranormal detective lend a hand to the Cincinnati Police Department and to the lead cop on the case, Kai Caskell.
