More than a Love Song

The Carpenters had a song that had as its major line, "all you get from love is a love-song." It is an enjoyable listen. However, the Book of Ruth shows that love results in more than a love song. The idea of love in the Carpenters' song is the worldly definition of love that has to do with physical attraction and delight. This love is basically selfish thinking of what one can derive from it. The love song of Ruth has to do with God's definition of love which is "an unselfish and unconditional concern for the good of another."
