The complexity of the relationship my father shared with our visitor was not known to me. He possessed a certain allurement, one not easily understood, yet subtle and understated. When he first arrived, I could not not know he would be the key to my salvation or that I, in turn, would also be his. It was only with time the truth would become known and the courage would rise to publish it. My name is Claudia Van Helsing, the daughter of Abraham Van Helsing, niece of Vladimir Baserab Tepes, a proud member of the Order of the Dracul, and the last living descendant of the man the world came to know as Dracula. This is our story, his story, and how a creature once reviled came to be my protector, savior, and the beloved holder of my heart, my dreams, and my life.
