Mechanical Vibration

The book aims to be as simple as is compatible with a reasonably complete treatment of the subject. As the art and science of engineering has grown at an astonishing rate the subject of vibration has also expanded with it. The subject of vibration has become the parent of three vigorously growing subjects, each of which now stands on its own and is represented by a large body of literature. They are: (1) electronic measuring instruments and the theory and practice of instrumentation, (2) servomechanism and control or systems engineering, (3) aircraft flutter theory or 'aeroelasticity'. These three subjects are offshoots of the theory of vibration and cannot be studied without a knowledge of that theory. The book includes advances in theory, new applications of computer technologies, new methods of vibration control. The book brings together a wide variety of skills and expertise, resulting in the most significant improvements. The book is proven to be a valuable working reference for those engaged in many areas of engineering, among them aerospace, automotive, industrial, mechanical, as well as equipment design engineering. Although this book is not intended as a textbook, it can be adopted for use in many universities and engineering schools.
