Amy Brown has spent her entire life in a foundling home, from being left there shortly after she was born, and now working there to help the matron. But what she really wants from life is a family of her own. When she overhears a conversation in the home, she feels that this might just be her chance at love.



Timothy Stockwell lost the love of his life, and now he's faced with raising four children on his own. As a rancher in 1898 Texas, raising children isn't as easy as he would like it to be. He both hated to cook, and he was terrible at it.



When he's told about an opportunity to meet a young lady and marry her that very night, he jumps at the chance to go to the party he's been invited to. There, he meets Amy, and they marry quickly.



But Tim's oldest daughter doesn't want a new mother. And she certainly doesn't want Amy to be that mother. Will Tim and Amy be able to get past the rudeness of his daughter? Or will Amy find herself in a family without the love she's dreamed of?
