Mahatma Jyotirao Phule

Mahatma Jyotiraio Phule (1827-1890) was among one of the modern educational philosophers of Maharashtra who played an eminent role in the development of education in Maharashtra, especially for the education of backward classes and women in late nineteenth century. His studies explore the Brahminical supremacy and hegemonies in the social setup of Indian society in general and Maharastrian society in particular. This book is an attempt to highlight the crucial role played by Mahatma Jyotiraio Phule in the field of education and welfare of backward classes.
