Lyrebird Mountain

A man. A woman. And the mountain that tears them apart. Anna is a child of Lyrebird Mountain, attuned to its wild ways and ancient spirits. Here she falls passionately in love with Jack, a young artist, but war intervenes and she comes to believe that her lover has died or abandoned her, leaving her pregnant and alone. And then, 12 years later, Jack returns. The book follows Anna through two world wars, an unhappy marriage, international fame as a photographer and writer, her reunion with Jack and its tragic outcome and, finally, the search for her granddaughter in war-ravaged Vienna. Anna's story is narrated by her granddaughter, Laura, from a collection of diaries, letters and newspaper cuttings - thereby building a relationship with her own troubled granddaughter, Sunny.
