LuYang. Digital Descending

Die Kunst von LuYang entsteht aus einem einzigartigen Crossover von Neurowissenschaft und buddhistischer Philosophie, Medizintechnologie und Bodyenhancement, Manga-Ästhetik und Sci-Fi-Fantasie. LuYang schuf 2020 den Avatar DOKU, der seine Gesichtszüge trägt und zugleich eine Figur darstellt, die sich von fixen Identitätszuschreibungen löst. Mit seinen technisch ausgefeilten wie ästhetisch überwältigenden 3D-Animationsfilmen, Videoinstallationen und Computerspielen erobert der Medienkünstler aktuell die internationale Kunstszene. LuYang hinterfragt gewohnte Denkkategorien, insbesondere im Hinblick auf geschlechtliche Identität. Digital Descending ist die erste Monografie des Künstlers, die in Deutschland erscheint. The media artist created the avatar DOKU in 2020. It has his facial features, while at the same time representing a figure that breaks free from fixed ascriptions of identity. LuYang is now taking the international art scene by storm with his technically sophisticated and aesthetically dazzling 3D animated films, video installations, and computer games. His work challenges familiar categories of thought-in particular, those relating to gender identity. Digital Descending is the first monograph by the artist to be published in Germany. LuYang (b.
