Lion Hunting: Tales of desire and dissent

A semifinalist for the 2024 Electric Book Award and the Sante Fe Writers Project Literary Award 2023, the stories in this collection have been published in fiction anthologies and in literary magazines After Dinner Conversation, Dalhousie Review, The Alembic, Quarterly Literary Review Singapore.

Like a hungry lion, desire is a powerful and unpredictable force that guides but that can also destroy us. "Lion Hunting" is a collection of 12 short stories about the price we pay when our hearts are gripped by desire. The protagonists in these tales are called to sacrifice old ways of thinking, those they love, their dreams, or parts of themselves in search of the illusive beasts that prowl within their hearts.

In "Infrastructure" dinner with friends embarking on IVF make a couple question if they are childlessness by choice or by circumstance. In "Another Night Out", two lonely women find solace in their codependent friendship. In "Smile" a repressed doorman with a gambling problem experiences catharsis through a relationship with a sanctimonious colleague. An adulterous painter rediscovers her lost talent - at a cost - during a sojourn at her husband's haunted, ancestral cottage in "Rowan Lodge".
