Beskrivelse
Lilith is memory and living force, energy in motion, the detail of an internal eclipse, a blinding explosion.
Just as the cosmos, immeasurable, settles accounts with destiny and gives meaning to astrology, Carlota Roby's poems are stars that emerge from the deepest darkness and travel at the speed of light to weave constellations. Within them reside discoveries that reveal past and future, where absence, rage, and passion nest, and where pain, intuition, and love bloom-a powerful poetic symbiosis between awareness and wonder. Artist Statement Born in Venezuela, Carlota Roby is a poet who resides in Washington D.C.
My poems explore recurring existential themes such as origin, identity, "exile" (real and figurative) and the transformation of the individual through their relationship with others. I emphasize emotions, the realm of the erotic, and intense psychological experiences through the use of confessional poetry. In some instances, I combine my poems with photography to accentuate the connection with the reader. I am heavily influenced by Schopenhauer, Alejandra Pizarnik, Clarice Lispector, Lucia Berlin and Elena Ferrante. Also, by Francesca Woodman's and Fukase's photography, and Agn?s Varda's, Wong Kar-wai, and Eric Rohmer's films.
