A tale of Tory Smith a young lady looking for love, and happiness after getting handed a raw deal on life. Tory and Shanell are best friends that grew up together on the Northside of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Shanell's mother never took much time to raise her so she spent her time with Tory, but when Tory's mom unexpectedly dies, both girls find themselves at a crossroads. Young and on their own, they go through life's ups and downs together hoping they both will come out on top or at least alive Tory with her take charge attitude finds herself in a nightmare of a relationship when her and her drug dealing boyfriend Khalil face off. Khalil pushes Tory to make some hard life altering decisions that may jeopardize her friendship with Shanell and her life Stepping out of the shadows of a controlling man is harder than it seems. Tory learns this lesson the hard way. Will aiming for a new start in New York be her answer? Will she find true love, or will she succumb to Khalil's controlling ways?
