Large Animal Orthopedics

The author has developed innovative techniques for the fitting of prosthetic and orthotic appliances on large animals, which involve amputation and orthopaedic rehabilitation. The book includes practical lessons and illustrations that will be useful for students, teachers, researchers, and practitioners in Veterinary Science, particularly in surgery. The aim of the book is to publish new and cost-effective methods in orthopaedic treatment for large animals. The book contains numerous hand-drawn illustrations and photographs to aid in the understanding of the surgical techniques. The author has also demonstrated the fabrication of a modified Thomas Splint and a sling for lifting downed animals using locally available materials. The use of a conjoined U plate for better immobilization in the fabrication of lower limbs for large animals is also claimed as an innovative step.
