For Henry Casey, the holiday season is a reminder of what's lost-a heart not quite whole after unexpected heartbreak. In the sanctuary of his lovingly restored cabin, his loyal dog, Duke, his only companion, Henry seeks the solace of simplicity-his feet on the table, Duke beside him, and the soothing warmth of whiskey numbing the past.



When a fierce blizzard descends on their wooded paradise, Henry and Duke find themselves unwitting heroes, and Eden their unexpected houseguest. Neither looking for anything new, they are content to weather the storm in each other's company.
