Karla Plays House

How do you make a child when the mother hasn’t found a father? Even though Karla is only 4 years old, she knows this very well. Karla was born with the help of a sperm donor. Her mum has explained how the sperm and Mum’s egg turned into a itzy bity baby. Karla also pretty much knows what a sperm donor is, but she doesn’t know much about what it is like to have a father.

When Karla plays with her dolls, she plays family with a mother and children. In the nursery, the same play is called ‘playing house’ with a family with a father, mother and children. That is a fun game too, but Karla never wants to be the father–she wants to be the baby or the mother.
