Harry Riley has spent more than a decade exploring themes which have puzzled and perplexed scientists and the great popular writers for centuries: could there really be life after death? what about ghosts, witches and warlocks? With Irish Catholic ancestry on his mothers side and his father hailing from Methodist preaching stock, Harry and his siblings were exposed from an early age to a family deeply conversant with superstitions. If a black bird flew into the house, according to his terrified mother, it meant someone in the family was going to die, and hiding under the kitchen table, he and his young brothers would whisper fearfully which one it would be, whilst above them on the table-top, their mother and her married sisters would be studying the tea leaves at the bottom of their cups and wondering what it all meant. This was Harry's family life in the early 1950's. Being careful never to walk under a ladder. Attending Church Sunday School without fail, and learning his scriptures. Now, seven decades later he still has no answers or judgements to make, and leaves his reader to decide.
