Ilumina

Ilumina is a Fall Faerie, and she's supposed to be learning how to control her magic at the prestigious Whimsy Academy.

But while her classmates summon breezes and gentle rain, Ilumina is busy starting accidental lightning fires, shocking other students, and drawing nervous stares in the cafeteria.

Even with the help of her tiny magical otter companion, Pip, Ilumina feels like a walking storm cloud. Her professors say she has potential. The other students say she's dangerous. And Ilumina is starting to wonder if they're both right.

In a desperate attempt to gain control, she leaves for summer break early, heading back to her family's cottage deep in the Faraway Forest. There, she hopes she can finally get a handle on her powers before the next school year begins.

But when Ilumina runs into a mysterious human boy-someone who shouldn't be able to see fae magic at all-she uncovers a much bigger problem than just the storm raging inside her.
