Is love possible for current or former CIA officers? Romance, a CIA operation, courtroom drama and friendship combine in this novel. In 1986, a veteran CIA officer is dispatched to Central America as part of America's clandestine support for the Contra rebels fighting to overthrow Nicaragua's socialist president, Daniel Ortega, and his Sandinista government. While there, he is unnerved by a violent episode that changes his attitude toward life. He resigns from the CIA to join an old colleague, a former CIA officer, who is prosecuting a difficult homicide case in Florida. Events cause both men to re-assess their priorities and their views of love and romance.
