HOMO INSANUS

PC Jack Garner has just killed a Big Issue seller during an anti-capitalist demonstration in Birmingham city centre. He has been thrown to the wolves. They are hungry.

Angela, his wife, is having an affair. Her parents despise him. His children couldn't care less about his potential loss of job, pension and liberty.

He has been sent to the Police Unit at Birmingham Airport pending investigation. The family of the deceased are seeking the reintroduction of the death penalty and a shed load of cash.

Jack is relying on his Federation rep, Bobby Sands, for help. But Bobby is black and he is named after the IRA hunger striker. It is not looking good.

Jack is a member of the species Homo Insanus. So are you. Despite science and technology, our species is insane. We live in a mismatched world where our behaviour is irrational. We tell ourselves stories which justify everything we think and do in a retrospective narrative. The smartest people are the best at this self-deception. This is why the world is literally crazy. Jack has to push back against all the insanity if he is to stand any chance of survival.
