Homegrown Readers

Homegrown Readers is a parent-friendly book written by a long-time teacher and reading specialist. It is designed to support parents as they help their children learn to read. While the book is written in everyday language, it is based on research. Homegrown Readers addresses reading readiness, creating a literacy-rich home, and how reading aloud to children builds important background knowledge. Using the understandings found in Homegrown Readers, parents will be able to support their children in the enjoyment of books, in applying strategies to become fluent readers with strong comprehension skills and will set them on the road to becoming lifelong readers.
