Though simple at first glance, Hans Christian Andersen stories often convey sophisticated moral teachings, in equal measure heart-breaking and heart-warming. Anne Anderson (1874 1930) was a prolific Scottish illustrator, primarily known for her art nouveaux children s book illustrations. She also painted, etched and designed many greetings cards, with her illustrations appearing near the end of the Edwardian era.
