Consumer cyber-augmentation is nearing reality, with the leading Japanese engineers looking for test subjects before entering the market. Hatsu Kamiya was disabled in a tragic accident as a child, and lost most of the use of her limbs in the aftermath. Given the opportunity to be a test subject for the prototype cyberlimbs for free, she readily accepts a new chance at having a normal life.
