"Growing Up Mental: A Son's Story" is a personal account shared through the eyes and mind of the author, who grew up with parents who struggled with mental illness. His goal through his writing is to support people in normalizing the conversation around mental illness, especially in communities of color. He wants to encourage those people with similar struggles as well as families and friends who support those in the mental health struggle. Karriem wants to motivate people to seek professional and spiritual support along their journey.



"Growing Up Mental: A Son's Story" contains events, stories, biblical scriptures to inspire readers as well as community resources to aid individuals in advocating for themselves or loved ones. Also, included are mental health facts in addition to Karriem's tips and suggestions based on his experiences.
