Great Zoos of the United States

Zoos have evolved from being places to see animals into living classrooms that teach us about animals, plants, ecosystems, and the importance of conservation. Each book in this series focuses on one of six amazing zoos of the United States. Students will read about the zoo's history, what it takes to run such a complicated and important place, the kinds of exhibits zoos have, as well as about animal habitats and the importance of conserving and protecting species. Special zoo programs, volunteers, and zoo stars are highlighted in each book. Also featured are a number of fun zoo facts that will excite students' imaginations and their fascination with animals. Most of the books are written by someone who works at the zoo and knows it inside and out. Their enthusiasm and knowledge bring each zoo to life for students--almost like taking a trip to the zoo
