Glory

"Glory" by Noviolet Bulawayo is a rumbustious energy burst and a sharp satire about tyranny, oppression and rebellion.

In a bountiful land a long time ago, the animal denizens had a good life. But then the colonizers and the bloody War of Liberation came along. The charismatic horse came with new hope, and he ruled for forty years with his elite band of Chosen Ones until a new leader and a new regime overtook the power and began a raised new hope… The young goat, Destiny is the center of the story as she witnesses her homelands’ revolution and fight against the tyranny.

"Glory" is a heart-rending and clever post-colonial fable that reminds us that tyrannies can only exist if we let them.  Noviolet Bulawayo’s "Glory" was shortlisted for the Booker Prize in 2022.
