Global Navigation Satellite Systems

A system which provides autonomous geospatial positioning by using satellites is referred to as a satellite navigation system. It helps small electronic receivers in determining their location including their latitude, altitude and longitude to a high precision. The location is determined by transmitting time signals along a line of sight by radio devices from satellites. A satellite navigation system which provides a global coverage is known as a global navigation satellite system (GNSS).
