The contributions to this volume consider the various aspects of the relationship between the ruling courts and sacral culture of the late Middle Ages. Which sacral elements may be found in the sovereign courts of that day? Was there a specific sacrality among principalities analogous to the sacral royalty? What was the role of the court chapel in the courts of the late Middle Ages? The focus of interest in this volume lies in studying the sacral elements of the secular and sacral courts of the late Middle Ages from various vantage points: the court chapel and court clergy, worship services and forms of devoutness, sacral architecture and sacred relics, festivals and court music.
