From the Other Side

A starship in orbit around an exoplanet is struck and partially destroyed by some unknown object, with only one member of the crew surviving. The surviving individual manages to reach the surface of the exoplanet by modifying a probe designed for transporting equipment to assess environmental conditions on the ground. Shortly after landing safely, she encountered the alien inhabitants of this exoplanet. They capture her, and she is taken to their village. She is surprised to find that they use fire and have permanent shelters, which indicates some degree of intelligence. Surprisingly, the aliens keep her alive and even do things that enhance her survival. This story alternates from the point of view of the human and the point of view of the aliens she finds herself among.
