When Francis of Assisi died in October 1226, he was poor in terms of material wealth and rich in terms of life. Approximately 800 years later, the new Pope Francis has positioned himself in the tradition of the saint who dedicated himself to the poorest of the poor and who eschewed material wealth. The first art book on Pope Francis has now been published by Hirmer Publishers. The richly illustrated volume introduces the new head of the Catholic Church and draws parallels to his titular saint, Francis of Assisi.
