Franco Battiato: visions of freedom.

This essay aims to investigate the concept of freedom in Franco Battiato's work.

What is freedom? He speaks about it extensively in his songs: freedom as responsibility and freedom as evolution stand out as essential ones, however, freedom of languages, freedom of expression and freedom from definitions, are significantly present too and not only in the lyrics. Battiato's life itself, his long career, from the Seventies until now, is but a sublime example of freedom tout court.

This book will attempt to go through a concept that subtly pervades every phase of his life, at the same time, it aims at treasuring Battiato's teaching about freedom.
