Beskrivelse
Fractal Noise is a compelling story of first contact and a gripping standalone prequel to the To Sleep in a Sea of Stars - by internationally bestselling author Christopher Paolini.
Humanity is not alone . . .
25 July 2234: The crew of the Adamura discovers an anomaly on an uninhabited planet.
They find a circular pit, fifty kilometres wide, its curve not of nature but design. A small team must land on Talos VII and journey on foot across the surface to learn who built the hole – and why. But they all carry the burdens of lives carved out on disparate colonies in the cruel cold of space.
For some, the mission is the dream of the lifetime; for others, a risk not worth taking. For one, it is a desperate attempt to find meaning in an uncaring universe. Every step they take towards the mysterious abyss is more punishing than the last. And the ghosts of their past follow.

If you are into sci-fi with spaceships, aliens and the fight for human survival, then to sleep in a sea of stars, and the prequel Fractal noise, are just the thing for you. They have not been translated into Danish yet, but hopefully they will be. In the story, we follow Kira, who is a xenobiologist and who, during a preliminary investigation, of a planet that has not yet been colonized, but according to the plans it will be, finds an alien artifact by chance. The consequences of the find now cause the snowball to roll, throwing her on an epic journey and war against not just one, but three different alien life forms and a life and death battle together with the crew from the wallfish and their mastermind Gregorovich. In the book we also meet a lot of other characters, including the crew from the wallfish, who are so well described that I would like to read a book just about them and their adventures to gain more knowledge and familiarity. The book is a longer one of its kind, so if you are not into small bricks, it is probably not the one to take with you as summer reading. However, I would recommend it anyway, as there will be a chance that there will be for the whole holiday and that you therefore do not need to take more than that with you. Despite the brick, I can highly recommend this to those who really like Science Fiction, it's the book I think back to when I think back to a good book. If you want a bit of background to To sleep in a sea of stars, I can recommend reading Fractal noise. The story takes place 23 years before To sleep in a sea and stars and provides some background knowledge for the events in the book. Hvis du ønsker lidt forhistorie til To sleep in a sea of stars, kan jeg anbefale at læse Fractal noise. Historien foregår 23 år før To sleep in a sea og stars og giver lidt baggrundsviden for begivenhederne i bogen.
