This book, drawing from over one-hundred other sources, takes a frank but hopeful look at death, in chapters on death and science, medicine, consciousness, art, music, culture, law, history, philosophy, and religion, with concluding chapters on death defeated and resurrected life.  The book includes vignettes illustrating how individuals and communities may most constructively countenance death.  While the book advocates a position of hope and mental, emotional, and spiritual health in facing death, it surveys multiple perspectives, examining their curiosities and limits.
