Our society today is flooded with images of what men and women should look for when choosing a spouse and how they should act once they are married. The world says that if we feel a connection, then we should follow our heart. The world says as long as a man provides, then he is a good catch. The world says that it is okay to sleep together before you are married. The problem is anytime you take advice from the world; you end up with the world's results. God wants us to thrive, especially in our marriages. Marriage is a gift from God and it is not to be entered into lightly. Countless television shows and movies have been created where men are depicted as either womanizers, or their actions are so immature, they are viewed no different than children. Women are sometimes depicted as either hyper-controlling or promiscuous and carefree. It is within marriage that: We walk in forgiveness daily. We are instructed to submit ourselves to one another. We are to walk in unconditional love. All of these should draw us closer to God, which is why God values marriage, and which is why I believe this book is desperately needed now more than ever.
