According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, only 10 percent of the energy consumed in the United States in 2015 came from renewable sources. The five major consumers of energy are electric power at 39 percent, transportation at 28 percent, industrial at 22 percent, residential at 7 percent, and commercial at 4 percent. This engaging resource explores the issues of energy use, policy, and possible new sources. Chapters address the current status of the world's energy use and the role of governments in addressing energy concerns; the impact of voluntary conservation and the transition to energy efficient technology; the current use of alternative energy sources; and the future of energy from where we stand.
