Echos of the Gavel, The Haunting of J. Lewis Hall is an historical novel set in the Leon County Courthouse, Tallahassee, Florida during the tenure of Judge J. Lewis Hall, Jr. The old southern judge is confronted by the ghost of an old convict. The convict confronts the judge with the action of the judge's father and the father's associates to challenge the judge's perspective on the law, The novel is set among real jurists from Florida history and asks an important question. Mixing the history of a seminal case which caused the 1954 Gubernatorial election with the ghost of a fictional 1950's Florida convict the novel asks the question: "Will you uphold justice, or simply the law?
